Wildlife enthusiasts are drawn to this 10-day Ecuador custom itinerary. Embark on a Galapagos cruise and explore the archipelago’s wonders. Every day brings a new discovery. Snorkel with sea lions, swim with turtles, hike over lava flows, look for marine iguanas and countless bird species. Then fly back to mainland Ecuador and board a riverboat that will deliver you to a remote jungle lodge in the Amazon.
Meet our representative at the Guayaquil airport for a transfer to your comfortable hotel in the city. Relax at your hotel or explore Guayaquil at your leisure.
Upon arrival at Baltra airport, meet your guides for a transfer to your cruise ship. Enjoy lunch as you set sail on the first adventure. Ride a dinghy boat from shore to a tranquil lagoon bordered by mangroves where pelicans, herons, and egrets feed. In the calm waters, you’ll see turtles swimming among white-tipped reef sharks.
Note: This itinerary gives you an idea of your activities by day. Your cruise itinerary may vary.

Enjoy a memorable walk on the dark red beach of Rabida Island. Take a dinghy ride to observe nesting seabirds and then snorkel off the coast amid the thriving marine life.
In the morning, make a wet landing on a volcanic black sand beach and explore the uplifted coral reef where you may find giant tortoises, land iguanas, and flightless cormorants. Snorkel with sea turtles, sea lions and tropical fish.
After lunch, walk to a saltwater crater lake with views of Isabela island’s volcanic cones. Then take a dinghy ride to see colonies of blue-footed boobies and Galapagos penguins.
Cross the Bolivar Channel and land on the rocky shore of Fernandina to see marine iguanas mingling with sally lightfoot crabs on the lava terrain. Enjoy snorkeling with diverse endemic sea fauna.
Take a dinghy ride to observe a variety of sea and coastal birds. Enjoy deep-water snorkeling in one of the richest marine havens on Earth.
Land at Puerto Ayora and drive into the Santa Cruz highlands. Enjoy a short walk through the lush green hills to see wild giant tortoises.

In the afternoon, enjoy a walk on nearby trails or a canoe ride to observe primates, birds, black caimans, and flora such as cedar trees, orchids, and bromeliads. Return to the lodge for a dinner and drinks.
Your excursions in the Amazon will familiarize you with the diverse species and habitats of the rainforest. Climb to the top of a 36 meter (108 ft) observation tower where you will see macaws and toucans, howler monkeys, and sloths.
Explore terra-firme forest trails that reveal the complex relationships between flora such as orchids, vines, strangler figs, ancient trees and bromeliads.
Travel by boat deeper into the rainforest for a chance to observe unique flora and fauna, including colorful parrots congregating at clay licks and golden mantled tamarins and white-lipped or collared peccaries appearing on jungle foot trails. Visit a local indigenous community to share food and learn more about their environmentally sustainable lifestyle. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon.
Enjoy a final activity in the lodge before transferring back to Coca and the airport for your flight to Quito and onward to your next destination.
